INDEPENENCE DAY!

INDEPENDENCE DAY

CELEBRATE YOUR INDEPENDENCE DAY!

As the sunlight faded into the night, rockets filled the sky like fiery darts, setting the darkness on fire. The thunderous sounds of the bombs, bursting all around, shook the ground beneath.  High on a pole it waved unshaken by the horrific events going on around it. To the enemy it stood in opposition, to the colonist, a symbol of strength in unity, encouragement…freedom from oppression. For as long as it remained exalted the battle was not lost.

Its stripes represent the thirteen original colonies that settled in the new world called America. The stars represent each state, fifty in all, which stand united as one country. The blue represents the freedom we enjoy. The red represents the blood that was shed to obtain that freedom.

“Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave, for the land of the free, and the home of the brave.”

In the war of 1812, the time the “Star Spangled Banner” was written, ships where powered by wind and sail. As they approached each other for battle they would sometimes lower the banner until they could identify the oncoming vessel. In times of war the command was often given to “Nail the banner to the mast!” Thus making it impossible to be lowered or hidden.

In America we call it “Old Glory”. Our banner is a symbol of unity, freedom and the realization that our freedom did not come without sacrifice; the shedding of blood.

In the Word of God (The Bible) our Banner is called “The LORD Is My Banner” -Yahweh Nissi (Exodus 17:15)

In that day the heir to David’s throne will be a banner of salvation to all the world. The nations will rally to Him, and the land where He lives will be a glorious place.

Isaiah 11:10 NLT Bible

By His stripes we are healed. He created the stars in the heavens and knows each one by name. And though our sins where red as scarlet, He washed them white as snow. (Isaiah 1:18) The blue represents the freedom we enjoy in Him. And the red represents the blood that was shed to obtain that freedom.

[In fact] under the Law almost everything is purified by means of blood and without the shedding of blood there is neither release from sin and its guilt nor the remission of the due and merited punishment for sin.

Hebrews9:22 AMP Bible

He too was nailed to a “mast”; it came in the form of a cross.
And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert [on a pole], so must [so it is necessary that] the Son of Man be lifted up [on the cross], In order that everyone who believes in Him [who cleaves to Him, trusts Him, and relies on Him] may not perish, but have eternal life and [actually] live forever!

John 3:14-15 AMP Bible

May you always be blessed when you behold the Stars and Stripes forever!

“Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, and this be our motto- “In God is our Trust!” And the star –spangled banner in triumph shall wave, O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.”(The last stanza of the “Star Spangled Banner” written by Frances Scott Keys, in 1814)

[God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].

Colossians 2:15 AMP Bible

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 2 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
