I AM Here (A PRAYER)

You are not an accident! You were created! You are valuable!

O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.  For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.  You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?  If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.  If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You. For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.  How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!  If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

Psalm 139:1-18 (NKJV)

WHAT WAS GOD THINKING WHEN HE CREATED YOU?

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NKJV)

You have a purpose! He has the plan! 🙂

WATCH YOUR STEP

1. Look carefully then how you walk! 2.Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),  3. Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. Therefore 4. do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but 5.understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.

Ephesians 5:15-17 (AMP)

HOW TO WATCH YOUR STEP (The following numbers correlate with the numbers in the verse)

  1. You choose the path you are walking on. Pay attention to the signs.
  2. Live life with purpose. Don’t be stupid!
  3. Don’t waist your time guessing, or doing it “My way”.
  4. Spend time hanging out with God in His word and in prayer.
  5. Pay attention to what He is saying through His Spirit Who lives in you. This is only for those who have received Jesus as their Lord.

Life is a journey, NOT a walk around the block. You have a purpose.

BE MINE :)

When I was in elementary school( before Pintrest), we would make Valentine folders, and hang them on the wall. When class was over we would take a list of  names home with us to make a Valentine cards. Mom would buy a box of assorted cards for me to use. Nowadays you can get them at the dollar tree! On the day of the party we play games and pass out the cards/candy. It was a fun way of making each child feel special/they were valuable. My fondest memory of Valentines day however, was the way my parents celebrated it. Mom would cook something we all (six of us) enjoyed eating, and later that evening, dad would call us all together, and  give us a small heart shaped box of candy or the Whitman sampler chocolates along with a hug as he said ,”Happy Valentines Day!”.

1.)  a sweetheart chosen or complimented on Valentine’s Day  2.) A gift or greeting sent or given especially to a sweetheart on Valentine’s Day; especially :  A greeting card sent on this day. Something (as a movie or piece of writing) expressing uncritical praise or affection : tribute (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

This Valentines weekend write a Valentine to Jesus/God. Make one up or find a verse that says what you want to tell Him. Get creative with it.

How precious is Your steadfast love, O God! The children of men take refuge and put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They relish and feast on the abundance of Your house; and You cause them to drink of the stream of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light. O continue Your loving-kindness to those who know You, Your righteousness (salvation) to the upright in heart. Let not the foot of pride overtake me, and let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
Psalm 36:7-11 (AMP)

PS.  I LOVE YOU JESUS 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving!

*  “Congress recommends a day of…thanksgiving and praise so that the people may express the grateful feelings of their hearts…and join…their prayers that it may please God, through the merits of Jesus Christ, to forgive our sins and…to enlarge His kingdom which consists in righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

– Continental Congress, 1777

As we give thanks to God we acknowledge that He is our source of provision and life. And it also opens to us the blessings of God to come upon us. When we pray before eating we are not asking/saying the blessing. We are giving thanks to God for His blessing in our lives. May you be blessed today and all season long. Whatever you do today, hanging out with family and friends around a feast,     watching football or going shopping, remember, you are a blessing someone gives thanks for! HaPpY ThAnKsGiViNg!!!

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Colossians 3:17 (NKJV)

Thank God, Eat turkey, Watch football, Shop, Repeat

What does Thanksgiving day mean to you?

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

Psalm 33:12 (NKJV)

What does Thanksgiving day mean to you? Is it a day of cooking and cooking? Or do you let someone else do the cooking? Is it a day of parades, food, and football? Or are you getting ready to “shop till you drop”? All these things are fun and I have to admit I have done them all, well accept letting someone else do the cooking. I worked in retail for 15 years through the shopping frenzy, and I actually enjoyed it! On TV the cooking shows are all about “the big day” and show you how to cook a turkey, as well as what to do with leftovers, while the commercials are more about Christmas shopping than they are about Thanksgiving.

On September 6, 1620 the pilgrims came to the new world. After many hardships, where  almost half of them died, they had a miraculous harvest with the help of the local Indians. In December 1621 they declared a three day feast to celebrate God’s provision. As we enter into the “season of thanksgiving”, let’s remember to give thanks to God for all He has provided for us.

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV)

*From  the first ever Thanksgiving Proclamation on October 17,1789, George Washington stated:

“It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of the Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His  benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor.”

FIELDS OF GRACE

Have you ever felt out numbered? Like the problems you are facing or frustrating thoughts have surrounded you and it seems like there’s no way out?

On June 27,1864 the union army of 100,000 men attacked the confederate army of 50,000 men that were intrenched on the mountain. Four thousand soldiers were dead or wounded that  day but the mountain was not taken; the union lost that battle!

In the Word it is written- Be of good cheer…(John 16:33) …. bringing every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. ( 2 Corinthians 10:5), He keeps him in perfect peace who’s mind is…. ( Isaiah 26:3), Our warfare is not flesh and blood…..( 2 Corinthians 10:4)

As we where singing the song, ” Fields of Grace” one Sunday morning, an image of Kennesaw mountain state park, and the field with a cannon in front of it came to mind.

As a teen this was one of my favorite places to go hang out. My friends and I would take a lunch and we would play Frisbee  in the field, climb the mountain,or visit the museum. This place was once a battle field where 4000 men laid wounded or dead. They weren’t there for a picnic and games!

As I listened to the words of the song,  the Holy Spirit told me that our lives are similar to this place. In the areas of our lives where there are issues, or problems that frustrate us, we are in a battle ; a war zone of sorts.   Through Christ Jesus we overcome these situations and where there was a battle, now there is a place of peace; a field of grace (Ephesians 2:5,8, Isaiah 26:3, John 16:33 Matthew 11:28-29). Even when a person is born again, the old (The battle field) is replaced by the new (The field of grace)! ( 2 Corinthians 5:17)

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things.

Philippians 4:6-8 (NKJV)
